The ZLE Photo Gallery pictures (except for "Miscellaneous Photos") were moved to a new web site -- "ZLEPhoto.com -- which was created this month. The ZLE Photo Gallery page has links to ZLEPhoto.com and selected pictures from the Regattas prior to 2009.

Your Sailing Story Place Forum has been removed from The Sailors Place as unacceptable posts have been made recently that I cannot control. The Sailing Stories that were on the Forum can be read, now, by going to a page on this web site named "Your Sailing Story Place". If you have a story you would like on "Your Sailing Story Place" you will find how to do it HERE.

[New in November, 2008]

Weather - this is a new page that will specialize in weather for sailors. The page has a Google weather "gadget" at the top that shows you lots of weather information based on a zip code entry. In addition, some weather items that were on the Navigation page have been transferred to this page.. Additional information will be added in the coming months.

ZLE Photo Gallery - Miscellaneous Page has some new photos of the Viking Lady and of some maintenance being done on the mast (Jan. 2008). In addition, there are some interesting pictures of tugs and large ships.

1. ZLE Photo Gallery - 100 new photos added on Page 6a and an additional 59 pictures (not quite as good as the ones on 6a) added on Page 6b. Pictures are of the Richmond Y. C. 2008 Small Boat Mid-Winter Regatta. Also added are 55 pictures on Page 7 of the Richmond Y. C. 2008 Big Daddy Regatta of the "big" boats on the Deep Water Course -- some great spinnaker shots!

2. Screen Savers - Take a look at the new Screen Saver with 24 of the best pictures from over 160 taken at the Richmond Y. C. 2008 Small boat Mid-Winter Regatta.

3. Your Sailing Story Place - Two new sailing stories from a friend and sailing buddy of a few years ago. Read the stories by 700-AVR8 in the "Lessons Learned" Category.

[New in January, 2008]

1. Your Sailing Story Place - Added a new part to the site that I think will be really interesting -- a Forum for all of us sailors to tell our stories - the categories are Funny Sailing Stories, Sailing & Scared, Exciting Moments, Memorable Sailing Times, Lesson(s) Learned, Embarrassing Moments and General. You can Tell Your Story just by filling out a Story Information Form, also. Click on the "Your Sailing Story Place" or the "Story Information Form" links (in blue) and tell us your story.

2. TC-Calculators - Updated the Tide & Current Calculator Downloads (Excel & Quattro Pro versions) for 2008.

3. Home Page - Updated the Free Photo Viewer (Irfan View) to its most current version. The download for the Viewer is located at the bottom of the Home Page. I also placed a download button for the updated Photo Viewer on the first page of the ZLE Photo Gallery.

[New in December, 2007]

1. Overall - Changed the Logo at the top of the Home Page and each page under it using a photo I took at the Richmond Yacht Club Big Daddy Regatta in March, 2007.

2. Screen Savers - added 6 sample thumbnail photos for each Screen Saver Download to provide some idea of what the pictures in the Screensaver will look like and re-arranged each download area. To go to the Screen Savers page -- use button on left or

3. Sailing Books - New reviews added to the Book Review Page on three books by the same author that I read recently and really liked. To see the reviews

4. ZLE Photo Gallery Pages - changed the background on these pages to black (presents the thumbnail pictures more effectively) and re-arranged some of the content and on-page navigation.

5. Tide & Current Calculator - added buttons to allow you to preview actual Calculator before you download it (based on whether you have Excel or Quattro Pro Spreadsheets on your computer. You can check out the new buttons if you Buttons are about half way down page.

[New in September, 2007]

Photos - Many new photos have been added -- Pictures from the Richmond Y. C. "Big Daddy" and the "Totally Dinghy" Regattas and a few additions to the Miscellaneous Page. There are 131 pictures, now on four pages. Take a look - there are not many places on the Web that have racing dinghy pictures and they are pretty well done, too!

Navigation - A chart you can download as a .PDF file (from SAIL MAGAZINE) that makes the use of a Barometer really practical. You will find a picture of the chart and the download button at the bottom of the Navigation page.

Navigation - More changes: The Tide and Current Calculator downloads have been moved to a sub-page with a link to it at the head of the Navigation page. At the same time, a new download with Excel and Quattro Pro versions have been added. The new downloads are Half Tide and Per Minute Change Calculators. Navigation - Still adding to this page. Another really good Trip Planning program from Maptech called Chart Navigator Viewer. I think it is better than SeaClearII but you cannot use a GPS with it like you can with SeaClearII. However, the planning functions are better, the charts are much nicer looking and the Program Screen is much simpler and clearer to use.

Also, added is a page that gives detailed instructions on how to download the FREE CHARTS from NOAA and how to set them up in SeaClearII and the Chart Navigator Viewer. To go directly to this instruction page from here

Navigation - More added to this page: (1) A Google Gadget showing Moon Phase; (2) A link to give Moon and Sun rise and set times for a specific day; (3) A link where you can see (and print for your use) a 'Custom Calendar' showing Moon phases and rise and set times; (4) A link to get a "Sky Almanac" which has (plus a whole lot more) positions of Major Stars and Planets relative to the Moon.

Navigation - Two new items have been added: (1) A link on the Navigation page where you can download "The American Practical Navigator" by Nathaniel Bowditch (882 pages) for FREE; (2) A link to take you to a page on the same site where you can download a large number of "Nautical Calculators" - also FREE. You can acquire individual calculators (rather than the whole group) there, as well.

Screen Savers and Photos - Free Screen Savers for download now have their own navigation button and page. Three new Screen Savers have been added and a large number of new Individual photos of racing dinghys and small racing keel boats have been added to the ZLE Photo Gallery. More pictures and Screen Savers will be added in the very near future.

Sailing Videos - You can click a link on the Virtual Sailing page and see FOUR NEW VIDEOS of boats sailing really FAST! If you have a Dial Up connection the videos take a very long time to load and then the display is jerky. However, if you have a fast, Broad Band connection then check it out NOW!
